Salary Structure

Compensation of cabin crew members in Air India is based on seniority, base location, and the amount of international and domestic flying hours. Salaries structures are, on average, as follows:

Fixed Monthly Salary

  • Domestic Cabin Crew: ₹30,000 – ₹45,000
  • International Cabin Crew: ₹65,000 – ₹1,00,000

Flying Allowance*

Compensation is paid per flying hour, usually, it is around ₹700 – ₹1,200 per hour.

Layover Allowances

Compensation for international destinations are in USD and ranges from ₹3,000 – ₹8,000 per layover.

 Other Benefits
There are staff travel privileges for employees and their family members, and they receive:
– Medical insurance,
– Uniform allowance,
– Meals on duty,
– Performance based incentives,
– Retirement benefits per company policy

Total average monthly earnings are

  1. Domestic Crew: ₹45,000 – ₹80,000

Key responsibilities

Passenger Safety & Security
Safety is the most critical duty of the Air India cabin crew. The responsibilities involve:

  1. Conduct pre-flight inspection of all safety equipment and doors, medically, and kit control.
  2. Show all safety measures, and procedures during the flight and safety demonstrations.
  3. Be sure that they are all following the safety regulations of the flight
  4. Oversee emergency situations like turbulence, evacuations, sick passengers, and other emergencies medically.
  5. Stay calm and professional in all the security emergencies.

Passenger Service Excellence

Cabin crew are the ones who promote the Air India hospitality by:
– Boarding passengers and greeting all of them while checking their boarding passes.
– Helping out the special passengers, as in senior citizens, infants, alone minors, and passengers who are disabled.
– Serving on the flight and following the service standards to provide the meals and drinks.

Distributing fluffy blankets, comfy headsets, amenity kits, and other comfort items.

Customer complaints and queries must be addressed.

Managing onboard sales where applicable.

Operational Duties

Cabin crew must comply with operational requirements:

Listening to pilots and crew briefing before take off.

Coordination with Ground Staff during boarding and security, and baggage issues.

Keeping the cabin areas clean and ready.

Submitting the flight reports and documentation after the flight.

Handling the catering and inflight products inventory.

Representation & Brand Image

As the brand ambassadors:

Obeying Air India guidelines in terms of grooming.

Keeping their professionalism for the entire trip.

Wearing the uniform in a correct and clean way.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

At a minimum, one must have completed 10+2 (Higher Secondary) from a reputable board. There is a required level of fluency in both English and Hindi. Proficiency in any other (regional/international) languages is an enhancement.

Transferable skills from other (regional/international) languages is an enhancement.

Age Limit?

For Freshers, the accepted age range is from 18 years of age to 27 years the range is extended to 32 years for Experienced Crew members depending on the airline policy.

Height & Appearance?

Females should be a minimum of 155 cm and Males must be a minimum of 170 cm. Body weight should be proportionate to height (following the guidelines of BMI)

For appearance; have clear skin, with the provision of one ear piercing, and no other visible tattoos/piercings. Excellent grooming and hygiene is required.

Medical & Fitness

You must be in good physical and mental health and should have no chronic diseases. Your vision should be 6/6 or corrected in some way (It is required for you to pass Air India’s medical tests)

Basic Skills & Personality

You must have a nice/pleasant/positive attitude and have a healthy level of confidence. We need you to have strong communication skills. A must is the ability to stay clam and focused under pressure, one should have a high level of empathy and a healthy amount of patience with an attitude of keeping the customer first. Also, an ability to work within a team and have some leadership is required.

Training includes both the mental and physical aspects with fake drills and other exercises to create realistic situations.

What are the working conditions like?

Shifts are based on your flight schedules.

Work can begin very early in the morning, sometimes late at night, or even through the night.

You will also have to travel and stay in different places regularly.

You will be on your feet and standing for a long time.

You may have to deal with very demanding and difficult travel guests.

You will be working in a very team-oriented and very coordinated company.
